Plot your chart and look at the month column: the branch should read 寅 if you were born between Li Chun (~4 February) and Jing Zhe (惊蛰 Jīngzhé, ~6 March). Then check the stem above it against the table here. Two traps catch Tiger-month births more than any other month. First, the Ba Zi year itself also turns at Li Chun, so a birth on 2 February belongs to the previous year’s stem, which changes which row of the table applies to you. Second, the year never turns at Chinese New Year for chart purposes; only the solar term counts. I was born on 3 or 4 February. Am I in the Tiger month?
Possibly, but only the exact Li Chun moment decides. The boundary moves year to year: Li Chun 2017 fell on 3 February at 23:34, a day earlier than usual, while Li Chun 2009 fell on 4 February at 00:49, so 3 February births that year still belonged to the previous month and year. Check your birth time against the calculator rather than the date alone.
Is the Tiger month the same as the first lunar month?
No. The lunar first month begins at Chinese New Year, which drifts between late January and late February. The Ba Zi Tiger month begins at Li Chun regardless of the moon. Only the solar-term calendar builds the month pillar.
Which Day Masters are strongest in a Tiger month?
