Where Zhiji is strong
Zhiji, whose name 知己 means “the one who knows you,” earns its reputation. The design is the best in the niche: dark, cinematic, and coherent from the first screen. The free tier is unusually generous. You get a complete reading across three systems, Ba Zi plus Zi Wei Dou Shu and I Ching, with no credit card and no feature lock. The educational side is deep too, with a 213-pattern library, a badge library, and a daily Ba Zi weather page that gives you a reason to return.
Membership at US$8.88 a month or US$88.88 a year adds conversation memory, so session 47 is not treated the same as session 1. For someone who wants breadth across several Chinese metaphysics traditions in one polished place, Zhiji is a fair and easy recommendation. Where the Butcher Boy app is different
We made three deliberate choices that pull in the opposite direction from Zhiji. First, one system, not three. The Butcher Boy app does Ba Zi only, because depth in one method serves most people better than a survey of several. Second, verification you can inspect.
