Auspicious Wedding Dates 2027: The Almanac Shortlist

Most couples arrive with a venue in mind and one question: which days in 2027 read well for a wedding. This page sets out the auspicious wedding dates 2027 as the almanac layer sees them, 25 days in all, with a separate list for the betrothal gifts. Read it as a starting shortlist. Your two birth charts decide the rest.

How this list of auspicious wedding dates 2027 was built

The traditional almanac, 通胜 (tōngshèng) in Singapore usage, gives every day one of twelve day officers, the 建除十二神 (jiànchú shí’èr shén). We kept only days ruled by 成 (chéng, Success), the officer our calculator engine describes as favouring “openings, weddings, signing, moving in”. Each day was read at 12:00 Singapore time. For how the officers rotate, see our guide to choosing auspicious dates and the background on the Tong Shu almanac.

Two filters followed. First, any day whose branch clashes the branch of the year was removed; the engine calls this a Six Clash (六冲 liùchōng) with the year. The year counts as 丙午 (bǐngwǔ, Fire Horse) until Li Chun (立春 lìchūn) at 09:45 on 2027-02-04, and as 丁未 (dīngwèi, Fire Goat) from then on. That cut three 成 days: 10 May, 22 May and 3 June 2027. Second, the 7th lunar month was removed, which cut 4 August, 17 August and 29 August 2027.

What we did not do matters as much. No date was checked against either partner’s chart, no hour was chosen, and the deity directions and stars of a full almanac were not layered in, because this site does not compute them. The result is a shortlist from the almanac layer, not a personal selection.

The 2027 wedding date table

The last column names each day’s clash animal. Check it against both partners’ year animals and, more importantly, against each partner’s day branch.

Weekend dates

Six of the 25 fall on a Saturday or Sunday: Saturday 30 January 2027, Sunday 21 March 2027, Sunday 11 July 2027, Saturday 11 September 2027, Saturday 30 October 2027 and Sunday 19 December 2027. Expect these to be booked early by banquet halls and solemnisers alike. A weekday 成 day with a smaller lunch reception is a common compromise, and in the almanac it reads no worse.

Engagement dates: the 过大礼 list

The betrothal gift exchange, 过大礼 (guò dà lǐ), usually takes place some weeks before the wedding. For this step the engine’s wording points to a different officer, 定 (dìng, Stable), which favours “agreements, engagements”. The same year-clash and 7th-month filters were applied, leaving 28 days.

Families weigh the betrothal date differently. Some give it the same scrutiny as the wedding; others take any 定 day that suits both households and keep their attention on the main date.

How couples narrow the shortlist

Start with the clash column. If either partner was born in the animal listed against a date, most practitioners set that date aside. Then repeat the check with each partner’s day branch, the earthly branch of the Day Pillar. In charts we read, the day branch is the spouse palace, so a wedding day that clashes it is the more serious conflict. If you do not know your day branch, the free Ba Zi calculator shows it.

Next, look at how the two day branches sit with each other. Our page on day branch compatibility explains the combinations and clashes between them, and Ba Zi marriage compatibility covers the wider reading of two charts together.

Only then bring in the practical limits: venue availability, flights for relatives abroad, leave from work. A date that passes the almanac and both charts but cannot be booked is not a usable date. The classic mistake is to treat the table as ranked. It is not. Every row passed the same three tests, and none outweighs another until your own charts are on the table.

What happens on the engagement day itself is in our guide to guo da li, and the full sequence from betrothal to tea ceremony in Chinese wedding customs.

Why Hungry Ghost month is skipped

In 2027 the 7th lunar month runs from 2027-08-02 to 2027-08-31. Many Singapore families avoid it for weddings as a matter of folk custom, and this list follows that custom rather than arguing with it. The August cut is a family convention, not a finding from the officers themselves. Couples whose families do not observe it can have those three days checked individually against their charts. Our Hungry Ghost month 2027 guide covers the month’s dates and observances.

The same 成 days also serve households choosing when to move in; that use is covered separately on our 2027 moving dates page.

If you already have a shortlist and two birth dates, a reading is where it gets settled. One hour, both charts on the table, each candidate date checked against both of you, and a written summary afterwards, with no fear-selling. Book a wedding date reading.
